Gary Honeycutt, age 67, of 3226 Unicoi Dr., Unicoi, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 3, 2011 at his residence.
A native of Johnson City, he was a son of the late Cart and Junia Hurley Honeycutt.
Mr. Honeycutt was a retired truck driver, and enjoyed fishing and loved Nascar and Drag Racing. He was a Freewill Baptist.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Honeycutt was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleene Kennedy; brothers Leon and James Honeycutt.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Honeycutt, of the home; two sons, Michael Wishon and wife Melanie, Johnson City; Jeff Thompson, Johnson City; one brother, Richard Estep, Johnson City; one sister, Magdalene Salts, Daytona, FL; six grandchildren, Amanda Wishon and fiancée Josh Houston, Michael Wishon, Jr., Chuck Morgan,and fiancée Caitlyn Johnson, Jeffery Thompson, Jr., Erin Thompson, Briana Thompson; one great grandchild, Audrey Houston; special friends, Robin, Tom, and Alex Keller; special daughter, Jessica Hobbs; special sister, Samantha Berry; his faithful companion, Teddy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Honeycutt will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Appalachian Funeral Home East Chapel with Rev. E.L Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and internment will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7 at 11:00 A.M. from Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Gene Deaton officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 A.M. on Wednesday. To those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
