Joey Stroud, Jonesborough

Joey R. Stroud, 49, of Jonesborough, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 24, 2011, from his residence.
A native of Knoxville, TN, he was the son of Jennings and Frances Borden Stroud. Before moving to Jonesborough, Mr. Stroud attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Knoxville. He currently was an employee for TDOT.
Joey loved animals, to rock hunt, play xBox and chocolate. His biggest enjoyment in life was his children. He will always be remembered by “What are you trading on?” He was a giving man and would love to trade before someone would offer any type of monetary payment. His carefree demeanor and friendly ways will be missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his high school sweetheart of 33 years, Debbie Holder Stroud; two children, Jessica Stroud and Josh Stroud, all of Jonesborough; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Rusty Stroud, Litchfield Park, AZ, Dusty and Susan Stroud, Limestone, TN, and Scott and Missy Stroud, Maryville, TN; mother-in-law, Louise Arnold; brother-in-law, Tim Arnold; and sister-in-law, Judy Laws; all of Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews, and very special friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for Joey R. Stroud will be conducted on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 7:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Treadway Cemetery, Elizabethton, TN. Active Pallbearers are Rusty Stroud, Dusty Stroud, Scott Stroud, Tim Arnold, Herb Roupas, Joey Suder and Buck Church. Honorary Pallbearers are his co-workers at TDOT, Harold Myrick and Phil Webster. Everyone is asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
