Gary Hall, Erwin

ERWIN — Gary R. Hall, 63, of Erwin, TN lost his battle with cancer of nearly 9 years on November 13, 2011.
Gary loved his country and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1971 earning two Medals for Good Conduct and a National Service Award. After 31 years, he retired from BellSouth in 2002, where he also served as Executive Vice President and Steward of CWA Local 3706 for numerous years.
Gary was an avid Harley rider and was active in all aspects of community service, from helping a person on the street to participating in numerous charity fundraisers.
A family man, he is survived by the love of his life, Gail Edwards Hall, to whom he was married for 20 years. Together, they loved their children, Kelly Hall of Lexington, SC, and Marc and Melanie Cox of Hendersonville, NC. “Pop” had 5 grandchildren, Dylan Medlin, Drew and Chloe Cox and Murphy and Skyler O’Neal. He loved his family dearly and had a special relationship with each family member.
Gary was the son of the late Floyd B. Hall, and Minnie B. Hall of Dothan, AL.
The oldest of three sons, he is also survived by his brother Michael F. Hall (Janet) and niece, Rachel of Dothan and nephew John Hall of Chattanooga, TN and Adam Hall of Seattle, WA. He was loved by numerous family members and friends, all of whom will always remember the loving, caring husband, Pop, family man and friend he was to everyone.
Pop, we will always love you. You will live in our hearts forever.
A memorial will be held at 12 PM, Dec. 3, 2011 at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 1221 N. Main Street, Erwin, TN. Family will receive friends at 10:30 until service time. A celebration of life will be held also in West Columbia, South Carolina on December 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the CWA Union Hall on Chris Drive. All are invited to attend.
