Roby A. Carr, Johnson City

Roby A. Carr, 79, 2128 Carr Road, Johnson City passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Cyrus and Lucy Vance Carr.
Mr. Carr was a retired firefighter with the Johnson City Fire Department. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Carr loved to cook and was known for his pineapple upside down cakes and his Christmas time fudge.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Elizabeth Payne Carr in 2008; three brothers, Ernest, Elmer and Joe Carr.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Perry and her husband, Kip of Bluff City; a granddaughter, Shelby E. Perry; a sister, Sarah Carr Toth and her husband, Joe of Johnson City; three brothers, Melvin Carr and his wife, Brenda, Kingsport, Floyd Carr and his wife, Nancy, Johnson City and William Carr of Jonesborough; a sister-in-law, Martha Carr of Johnson City; a special friend, Rallo Murray, Johnson City; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Carr will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City.
Burial will follow in the Carr Cemetery, Johnson City. Johnson City Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the service time.
