E.J. ‘Spider’ Bailey, Limestone

E.J. “Spider” Bailey, age 82, 124 John M. Reed Rd., Limestone, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Bailey was a Washington Co. native and a son of the late Ike and Kate Hensley Bailey.
He was a graduate of Lamar High School, where he participated in varsity basketball for 4 years.
Mr. Bailey was employed with Klopman Mills and Burlington Industries for more than 30 years and retired as a supervisor in 1980.
He was instrumental in beginning Little League baseball in the Lamar Community during the late 1950s.
Mr. Bailey was a Baptist.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Osborne Bailey; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors include six children, Charles Bailey and wife, Diana, Johnson City, Gary Bailey and wife, Ellen, Greensboro, NC, Sarita Easterling and husband, Ken, Johnson City, Bubby Bailey and wife, Mary, White Pine, TN, Sandra Ebarb and husband, Joe, Johnson City, Stacy Bailey, Taylorsville, MI; a brother, Herman Bailey and wife, Carolyn, Raleigh, NC; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
The visitation for Mr. Bailey will be Friday, November 25, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held at Bumpass Cove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Johnson City and Washington County, 2210 W. Market St., Johnson City, TN 37604.
