James Walter Loyd, Johnson City

James Walter Loyd age 90 of Lebanon and a long-time resident of Johnson City passed away Thursday, November 18, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Trousdale County, he was the son of the late Walter and Rowena Vann Loyd. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City. He was a graduate of Cumberland University and later received his Doctorate in Business from the University of Kentucky. He taught business classes at The University of Kentucky and later East Tennessee State University. He retired from East Tennessee State University as Dean of Students.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lyons Loyd; two sisters: Lillian Loyd Scheuerman and Patty Loyd Patterson. He is survived by two nieces: Carolyn Vann Scheuerman and Brenda Patterson Simms; several great-nieces and nephews including, great-nieces, Karen Hall Allen and Allison Hall Boring; great-nephew, James Thomas Hall.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Johnson City.
