John Henry Simerly, Roan Mountain

ROAN MOUNTAIN — John Henry Simerly, 77, Roan Mountain, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 14, 2011, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jake & Pearl Johnson Simerly. He was a graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Simerly retired from Thomasville Furniture Company. He was a member of the Sunrise Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Stevens Simerly, September 27, 2011; and by a sister, Susie Jane Berry.
Survivors include Three Sons: Johnny K. Simerly and fiancé, Lori Tester, Jeffery L. Simerly and wife, Thelma, and Michael N. Simerly and wife, Susie, all of Roan Mountain; A special daughter-in-law: Darlene Simerly; His Grandchildren: Amy Salvatore, Tonya Cole, Jonathan Simerly and wife, Candace, Jacob, Allison and Austin; His Great Grandchildren: Madison, Cheyenne & Aaron.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Billy Morgan officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hall Cemetery. Music will be provided by Rev. Ronnie Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son & daughter-in-law: Jeff & Thelma Simerly, 128 Raymond Chambers Lane, Roan Mountain. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion & Tennessee National Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
