Fannie Mae Shook, Johnson City

Fannie Mae Shook, age 82, of the Rock Creek Community, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Center on Aging and Health. She was a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Newberry and Leota Blankenship Rice. Fannie worked at Southern Potteries and retired from the VA Medical Center Dietetics Department. She is a former member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. Other than her parents, Fannie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spencer Shook in 1978 and by several siblings.
Fannie was a loving mother to Teresa Keesecker and husband Karl of Erwin, devoted grandmother to Karla Keesecker of Erwin, sister to Flossie St. Clair of Erwin, Edith Clouse of Jonesborough, and Bill Rice and wife, Sharon of Christiansburg, VA and an aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. The committal service for Fannie Shook will follow at 1:00 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery.
