Mary Phipps, Johnson City

Mary Emma Phipps, age 99, of Johnson City, TN, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at the NHC Healthcare Center of Johnson City.
A native of Wickhaven, PA, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah Ann Debey Bestwick. Mrs. Phipps was a homemaker and was a member of the Johnson City Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jesse G. Phipps; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Phipps and Alice Phipps; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include Six daughters, Sarah Hyder, Johnson City, Dorothy Piatt, Mosheim, TN, Margaret Thompson, Tampa, FL, Nancy Davis, Limestone, TN, Janet Daniels, Limestone, TN, Ruth McKeehan, Pensacola, FL; two sons, James G. Phipps, Gray, TN, and Jess Phipps, Jr., Lamar, TN. Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Mrs. Phipps will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Mr. Larry McKeehan officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
