Mabel Depew, Johnson City

Mabel L. Depew, age 95, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City following a lengthy illness.
A native of Yancey County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Carter and Maude Edith Bowling Presley. Mrs. Depew was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Louis Depew, Sr.; daughter, Mary Lee Hopson; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Joe Depew, and wife Lucille, Johnson City, Herman L. Depew, Jr.; one daughter, Betty D. Card, and husband James, Chattanooga, TN; three grandchildren, Paige R. Rogers, and husband Barry, Jameson L. Hopson, both of Chattanooga, TN; Michelle D. Mitchell, Johnson City, TN; Four Step Grandchildren, James E. Card, Jr., and wife Carla, Angela S. Card, both of Chattanooga, TN; Diane Holmes, and husband Jeff, Trenton, GA, Allene Greene and husband Jerry, Johnson City, TN; two sisters, Daisey Presley, Unicoi, TN, and Estelle McGinnis, Elizabethton; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Depew will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Chaplain Dwight MacPherson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, November 17 from Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00 A.M. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Thursday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
