David Adams, Johnson City

Psalms: 89:19: I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have exalted a young man from among the people.
David A. Adams, 44 years, departed this life to with the Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. David was of Baptist faith.
David was well loved by anyone who came in contact with him. He was born in Dante, Virginia, and attended Castlewood High School where he excelled in sports. As a result of his athletic prowess, he enrolled at Lincoln Memorial College.
After graduation David enlisted in the United States Army. He was successful in the U.S. Army, spending a tour of service in Operation Desert Storm. David was very proud of the medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons he earned while serving his country.
He was preceded in death by his loving Mother, Kathryn Adams; grandparents; and a host of uncles and aunts. 
He leaves to mourn his loss, a daughter, Caitlin Adams, his father, Everitt Yates, and wife, Shirley; six brothers: Lawrence “Pop,” Ruben and William “Bill Bones” Adams, of Johnson City, TN, Paul Adams, of Richmond, VA, Charles “Doc” Adams, of Lebanon, VA, and Corrie Simmons, of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters: Sharon Foster, of Johnson City, TN, Evette Yates, of Greensboro, NC, and Thelma Williams, of  Albany, NY; a special family, Scotty and Kelly Tester; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A very special thank you to Dr. Tolan, Dr. James Ross and all of the staff at the V.A. Medical Center and Bldg 162.
Homegoing services will be conducted at Thankful Baptist Church, 1501 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City, TN, on Monday, November 14, 2011. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with service to follow immediately after. Rev. C. Danny Johnson will be officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mountain Home Cemetery with full military rites.
You may visit the family at 2023 E. Unaka Ave. at any time prior to services.
