Tom Carpenter, Johnson City

Tom Carpenter, 67, 312 Flourville Rd., Johnson City, died Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Tom was a native of Maryville and had been a resident of Johnson City since 2008.
He was a son of the late Edward and Julia Morton Carpenter.
Tom was a grocery buyer and supervisor and had worked with Giant Wholesale and Fleming Foods before retiring from Whites Fresh Foods.
He was a former member of Southwestern Baptist Church.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son.
Tom is survived by his wife, Dora Greene Clendenon Carpenter; two daughters, Maria Wright and husband, James, Sevierville, and Linda Clark and husband, Coy, Bristol, VA; three step-children, Deborah Joann Clendenon, Kenneth Lynn Clendenon and Cathie Riley Clendenon, all of Johnson City; one brother, Donald Carpenter and wife, Laverne, Maryville; one sister, Edwina Anderson, Maryville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Bawgus officiating. Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 P.M. Sunday.
