Mildred Broyles, Limestone

Mildred P. McCracken Broyles, age 93, a lifelong resident of Limestone, passed away at 3 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011, at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Carl and Mary McCracken and was the widow of Gilford F. “Bones” Broyles. She was eldest of 13 siblings, and was preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers.
She was a lifelong member of Limestone United Methodist Church, where she was an active member as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Joyce Kelley, of Atlanta, GA, Elva and James Tyree Jr., of Limestone; three grandchildren and their spouses: Mike and Varonica Kelley, of San Antonio, TX, Jamie Tyree, of Limestone, John and Sabrina Tyree, of Ormond Beach, FL; four great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Michaila and Michael Kelley, and Kyra Tyree; two sisters: Ernestine Aiken, of Telford, and Mavis Fellers, of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Steven Spell will officiate.
Committal services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Urbana Cemetery at Limestone.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Kelley, Jamie Tyree, David Carroll, Jerry Wayne Aiken, Jack Aiken and Jeff Aiken. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Collette, Rick Schubert, Jim Tyree and Hoyle Kyker.

The family would like to express special recognition and appreciation to Amedisys Hospice care nurses and to, in her words, “my people” at Limestone United Methodist Church, who were faithful to her through, as she put it, “my years.”
Also to her special friends with Jonesborough Senior Citizens Center, who delivered her meals on wheels, and a host of others, family and friends who were dedicated to her.
