Lyle Johnson, Johnson City

Lyle Tracy Johnson, 57, Johnson City passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 6, 2011, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
He was a Cherokee, Iowa, native. Lyle served in the United States Navy, retiring after twenty years of service. While in service he received the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. He served on the USS Enterprise as an Air Traffic Controller.
Following his service he attended and graduated from Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, with a Major in Preaching and a Minor in Biblical Studies. Presently he was a student at Emmanuel Christian Seminary working on his Master’s Degree. Lyle was a member of the First Christian Church, Johnson City.
He was preceded in death by his father: Mitchell Johnson.
Survivors include his wife: Catherine Burkart Johnson; Four Sons: Christopher Johnson and wife, Ghazel Johnson, of California, Benjamin Johnson, of Florida, David Johnson, of Arkansas, and James Johnson and wife, Amanda, of Tennessee; Two Grandchildren: Alexa Johnson and Arthur Johnson; His Mother: Betty Spitzbarth Johnson, of Missouri; Two Brothers: LaVern Johnson, of Arizona, and Lowell Johnson, of Missouri; One Sister: Lori Sholly and husband, Louis, of Missouri; Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts & Uncles.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, in the First Christian Church, Johnson City, with Mr. Tim Wallingford and Mr. Steve Hill, Ministers, officiating.
The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service. There will be a visitation on Friday, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Thompson Community Center, Fireside Room, at the Emmanuel Christian Seminary. Friends may also call at his residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Johnson to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.
