September 5, 1942-October 31, 2011
James Alfred Kennard Jr., 69, died Monday, October 31, 2011, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Jim died at his home in Johnson City, TN, with family and friends present.
Mr. Kennard was born September 5, 1942, the first child of James Alfred Kennard Sr. and Jeanette Proudlove Kennard, both of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Paige Yates, of Williamsburg, IN; two sons, John Paul Kennard, of Leesburg, FL, and James Preston Kennard, of Tampa, FL; and two grandchildren, Emery Chloe Bracken, of Williamsburg, IN, and Milan Nicole Kennard, of Birmingham, AL. Jim is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Kennard Davis, of Gray, TN; and brother, Francis Joseph Kennard, of Lithia, FL.
Mr. Kennard was a native of Tampa, FL, and lived there most of his life except during his 9 years of military service. He moved to Johnson City in December of 2010 — a decision he was glad he made.
A graveside service will be scheduled for the spring when more of his family members and friends from out of state can attend. As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Jim will be buried in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.
Snyder’s Funeral Home is serving the family.
