Genevieve ‘Genny’ Deyton, Erwin

ERWIN — Genevieve “Genny” Deyton, age 67, of Erwin, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Erwin Health Care Center after a long battle with MS.
John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
She was a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Ralph and Merta Chandler Masters.
Genny was of the Christian Faith. She had attended Warren Wilson College. She had been employed by Morrill Motors for several years.
Other than her parents, Genny is preceded in death by brothers, Tom and Mick Masters; and a sister, Irene Silvers.
She was the mother of Victor and Janet Deyton, of Erwin, Amy and Steve Williams, of Athens, Alabama, Cathy Ball-Long and Jeff Long, of Asheville, North Carolina, devoted grandmother of: Emilee Williams, Benjamin Williams, Laiken Deyton, Brady Deyton, Addison Long; sister to: Richard and Sandy Masters, Wendell Masters, Betty Jo Moorman, Craig and Phyllis Masters, all of Erwin, Lawrence Masters, of Dandridge, TN, David and Joy Masters, of Johnson City, Greg and Diane Masters, of Piney Flats; and an aunt to several loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to Erwin Healthcare Center and a special “Thank You” to Chearie Parkey for her care and companionship.
A Celebration of Life Service for Genevieve “Genny” Deyton will be conducted on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Chaplain Tim Evans will officiate.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at Valley Funeral Home. The committal service will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
