Meryle Barry, Gray

Meryle Christine Campbell Barry, of 141 Fulkerson Road, Gray. It is with extreme sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was 89 years old. She passed away October 31, 2011, at JCMCH following a brief illness.
She was a native of Washington County, TN, and a daughter of the late Warner Haws Campbell and Grace Smith Campbell.
She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She was artistically talented and especially enjoyed working in and teaching others about ceramics.
She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1940 and attended State Teacher’s College for three years in the early forties. There she studied voice and piano.
She was married for 57 years to her late husband, Warren Earle Barry. They were both active members of Hales Chapel Christian Church of Gray.
In addition to her parents, her husband and her twin brother, Carroll Clayton Campbell, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, John Charles and Linda Barry, of Bethel Park, PA, James Richard and Margie Barry, of Gray; four daughters, Mary Anna Barry (caregiver), of Gray, Betty Jo and Larry Barr, of Gray, Martha Marie and Greg West, of Gray, Elizabeth Ann and David Jaynes, of Jonesborough; five grandchildren, Rachael Leigh Barry, of Knoxville, TN, Rebecca Christine and Derek Shreve, of Raleigh, NC, K. Daniel Jaynes, of Greeneville, TN, Jonathan Ryan Barry, of Gray and Memphis, TN, and Amy Nicole Jaynes and fiancée, Justin Babb, of Gray. She especially enjoyed her three great-grandchildren, Grayson Riley Babb, of Gray, Briley Christine Shreve and Judson Derek Shreve, of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Roy and Helen Campbell, of Jonesborough; one sister, Joy and Paul Stover, of Jonesborough; one sister-in-law, Jean Archer Campbell, of Jonesborough; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow on Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
The service will be conducted at Hales Chapel Christian Church, 280 Hales Chapel Road in Gray. Lamar Garrison and Clinton Andrews, ministers, will officiate.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the Hales Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be chosen from family members.
Friends may call at anytime at her home or the home of her daughter, Betty Barr, 181 Fulkerson Rd. Gray, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Hales Chapel Cemetery Fund.
