Ruby Garland, Johnson City

Ruby Irene Garland, 94, 815 Exum Street, Johnson City where at 11:00 PM Friday, October 28, 2011 God sent angels to take her to Heaven.
Mrs. Garland was a daughter of the late Walter and Bessie C a mp b e l l Hathaway. She was a native of Hampton, TN but had moved to Johnson City at an early age. After marriage she moved to Orlando, Florida where she lived until retirement then moved back to Johnson City. She had worked as an LPN in the Johnson City Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and 25 years for the Florida Hospital of Orlando. Mrs. Garland was a member of the Martindale Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Garland in 1996; a son, Stanley Garland in 2003; four brothers, Robert, Ralph, Ronda and Raymond Hathaway; four sisters, Ruth Frye, Rose Hathaway, Rena Street and Rowena “Duke” Tenix; a daughter-in-law, Betty Garland and a son-in-law, Bobby Hilton.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Bill Garland of Johnson City; three daughters, Linda Hilton of Johnson City, Kathy Spears and her husband, David of Orlando and Prophetess June Hilton and her husband, Kenneth of Elizabethton; a brother, Richard Hathaway and his wife, Louise of Elizabethton; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Cynthia Cable; a special grandson, Tony Parlier; a special friend, Kenneth Miller, Johnson City; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Garland will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with Pastor Delbert Storie, Rev. David Cox and Rev. Bill Garland officiating. Special music will be provided by June Hilton and her grandson, Stanley Garland Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from the family.
