ERWIN — Mr. Donald Effler, age 77, 806 Lower Higgins Creek Road, died unexpectedly at his residence, Thursday morning, October, 27, 2011.
Mr. Effler was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late George Washington and Emma Ann Morrow Effler.
He retired from NN Ball and Roller in 1996, where he worked as an Industrial Mechanic. Mr. Effler was also a long-time employee of Industrial Garment. He was of the Christian faith.
Donald was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also loved fishing, hunting, and watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Effler is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Betty Randolph Effler; one son: David Effler, Erwin; four daughters: Glenda McCray and husband, Joe, Blountville, TN, Judy Tipton and husband, Roger, and Kathy Alford and husband, Rob, all of Erwin,; Susie Knowlton and husband, Keith, Jefferson City, TN; two brothers: a twin brother, Ronald Effler and wife, Lucille, Erwin, Graham Effler and wife, Vada, Flag Pond, TN; two sisters: Willa Dean Hughes and husband, John, and Nadine Moore, both of Asheville, NC; thirteen grandchildren: Jason and Jimmy Effler, Amy Clouse and husband, Mike, Karen Bennett, Joshua Tipton, Sherry Ray and husband, Jerry, Crystal Saylor, Holly Marlowe, Adam Alford, Hannah Alford, Allison Gentry, Matthew Gentry and Hunter Gentry; three great grandchildren: Max Clouse, Will Ray and Kiley Bennett; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Mr. Effler, Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. in the Erwin Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend David Byrd will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time.
