ELIZABETHTON — Marion “Bud” Shipley, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Della Richards Shipley. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Bud was a member of the Borderview Christian Church. He loved to camp, fish and loved to travel.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife: Virginia Stout Shipley; and a brother, Jack Shipley.
Survivors include his wife: Margarette Honeycutt Shipley; His Sons & Spouses: Dexter & Donna Shipley, Douglas & Terri Shipley; A Daughter & Spouse: Deborah & Gaylord Hyder; Stepchildren: Grover & Janet Honeycutt, Suzi Wallace, David Honeycutt & Charles Dudley; Grandchildren: Danielle & Dillon Shipley, Nicole & Joshua Duvall, Casey & Katrina Blevins; Step-Grandchildren: Jordan & Jeremy Honeycutt, Jonathan & Mary Wallace, Nikki & Diego Vega, Amber & Adam McElyea, Jordan & Erika Lambert and Daniel “Opie” Lambert; Great Grandchildren; Harley, Summer & Caley Blevins; Step Great Grandchildren: Neelynn McElyea, Jadence Lambert, ShyAnne Tuelle, Wesley Wallace, Calie Graham and Ethan Bowker; His Siblings: Letha Ritchie and husband, Lawrence, Kathleen Duffy and Curtis Shipley & Wife, Barbara; A sister-In-Law and Spouse: Mona & Gene Sweeney.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Bob H. Sams and Mr. Kirk Langston, Ministers, officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, in Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mr. Leon Langston, officiating. Music will be provided by Carmen Cook, Soloist, and Scott Reynolds, Organist. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday, will be: Dillon Shipley, Casey Blevins, Jordan Honeycutt, Jeremiah Honeycutt, Jonathan Wallace, Allan Scalf, Daniel “Opie” Lambert and Lance Ritchie. Honorary Pallbearers will be his extended family and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
