William Herndon Jr., Parrish, Fla.

PARRISH, Fla. — William J. Herndon, Jr. age 82, formerly of Kingsport, passed away at his residence in Parrish, Florida, on October 15, 2011.
He was an active member of Tri-Cities Baptist Church for many years and was very dedicated to the Lord, his family, and mission work.
He worked with the government for years as an engineer, building hospitals across the United States. His final project before retiring was senior engineer over construction of the VA Mountain Home Hospital in Johnson, City, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jennings Sr. and Leva Herndon
Surviving are his wife, Avinell Sproles Herndon, of 52 years; two daughters, Rhonda Herndon, of Palmetto, FL, Susan Cavner Walker and husband, Steve, of Spring City, TN; one grandson, Alex Cavner, of Asheville, NC; and one sister, Marie Bullen, of Pass Christian, MS.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 on Saturday at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011, in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Arden Taylor officiating.
