Larry Townsend, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Larry Lee Townsend, 68, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday October 11, 2011, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
He was a Carter County native. Larry worked at Inland Container for 17½ years and Snap-On-Tools for 19½ years before taking retirement.
He was a loving husband, loving and caring father to his four children. He is loved and will be missed greatly.
He attended the Blue Ridge Mountain Church, Elk Park, NC. Larry loved football and fishing with his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Townsend; and a brother, Billy Townsend.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Stines Townsend; Four Daughters & Three Sons-In-Law: Shawna & Michael Odom, Hampton, Deana & Tim Hartley, Butler, Lisa & Jim Hartmon, of Pennsylvania, and Michelle Townsend, of Maryland; One Brother: Vernon Townsend, Elizabethton; Eight Grandchildren: Abraham Odom, Jonathon Odom, Brittany Marvel, Phillip Marvel, Timothy Hartley, Faith Hartley, Vanessa Sewell and Mikel Osbey.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Donald Stines officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
