Ida Lee Kelsey, 90, 133 Odell Circle, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a daughter of the late David and Rosa Livingston Walker. Mrs. Kelsey was the owner of the Tri-City Health Food Store, the first of its kind in Johnson City. She was a member of the McKinley Memorial Bible Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanford “Tiny” Kelsey, in 1977, and her second husband, Lawrence Leach, in 2008; two daughters, Karen Sue Kelsey and Donna Lynn Dugger; two brothers, Robert and Johnny Walker; three sisters, Martha Jackson, Sara Walker and Georgia Walker; a grandson, Jonathan David Kelsey; a great-grandson, Zane Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Kelsey Smith, Johnson City, and Rosa Lightfoot and her husband, Tommy, of Union City, Missouri; three sons, David Larry Kelsey and his wife, Vada, Johnson City, Stanford Kelsey and his wife, Brenda Shoun, California, and James Kelsey, of Johnson City; two sisters, Mary Hoilman, Bakersville, and Edith Carder, of Johnson City; a brother, Mack Walker and his wife, Dot, of Florida; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kelsey will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2011, at the McKinley Memorial Bible Church with Pastor Lenny Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 5:00 PM until service time.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
