Emma Jean Blevins, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Emma Jean Blevins, age 79, Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late William Reece and Loretta Pearl Blackburn Holman. Mrs. Blevins was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and collecting things. She was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Ed Holman; and two sisters, Virginia Maude Holman and Georgia Scott.
Mrs. Blevins is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, William R. Blevins, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Hopson, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Eric Shane and Carolyn Blevins, Stacy James and Barbara Blevins, all of Elizabethton; sisters, Louise Guy, Elizabethton, Ina Ruth Bowling, Taylor, SC, Shirley Smith, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Ilana Ruth Pearl Blevins, Julia Paige Blevins, Corbin Shane Blevins, all of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews, including one special niece: Helen Faye Eggert, Ormond Beach, FL; one brother-in-law, Charles Crawford Scott, Elizabethton; one sister-in-law, Crystal Pierce; and special friends, Shirley Shell and Jean Barnett.
The funeral service for Mrs. Blevins will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bill Greene.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service or at the residence at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend may meet the family at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandson, Corbin Shane Blevins, and others selected from family members. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Lynn Valley Baptist Church and her friends and neighbors.
