Barbara ‘Bootsie’ Hill, Johnson City

Barbara S. “Bootsie” Hill, 206 N. Belmont St., was born on October 17, 1952. She entered into rest on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Barbara was a member of Friendship Baptist Church from an early age, where she was active in church activities and served as pianist for the choir for a number of years.
She was a graduate of Science Hill High School, after which she had various employment.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Larry E. Hill, in 2002.
She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Traci Carpenter, Lexington, KY; and son, John Duff Jr., Bristol, VA; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Carpenter, Stacie Carpenter, both of Lexington, KY, Madison Duff, Nicholas Duff and Jalyn Duff; two great-grandchildren, Kaidon Carpenter and Jakorie Carpenter, Lexington, KY. Also left to mourn are her mother, Elva L. Morrison; father, Walter L. Earnest; sisters; Roberta E. Griffith (Keith), Billie E. Kemper, Karen L. Morrison; and nephew, “Howie” Kemper. A host of other relatives and friends are also included, as are very special friends Jackie Brown and Charles “Charlie” Patrick.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Friendship Baptist Church, 522 West Main St., with Dr. C.H. Charlton officiating.
Burial to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 PM, prior to the services.
