Odell Whitehead, Bremerton, Wash.

BREMERTON, Wash. — Odell Thomas Whitehead, age 82, of Bremerton, Washington, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011, at his residence.
A native of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Hobert and Wilda Ingram Whitehead.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Connelly and Paul Whitehead; and a grand-daughter, Rebecca “Bug” Whitehead.
Mr. Whitehead proudly served his country in both the Army and Navy. He was a former employee of the Dodge Division of Chrysler, as well as the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. From 1959 till his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, traveling and most of all his family.
Survivors include his spouse, Lula L. Means Whitehead; three sons, R.L. McKinney (Juanita), of Elizabethton, Tennessee, Tom Whitehead (Dawn), of Bend, Oregon, Phillip Whitehead (Cathy), of Bremerton, Washington; one daughter, Rebecca Tuttle (Jeff Frickle), of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Brittney, Travis, Kyle and Nicole; three great-grandchildren, “CJ,” Regan and Elliott, one sister, Charlotte Campbell, of Elizabethton, Tennessee; and one brother, Richard Whitehead, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Odell will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Beck Mountain Baptist Church, 2797 Siam Road, Elizabethton Tennessee.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the “Mustard Seed Scholarship” at Wit’s End Center for Learning, P.O. Box 475, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601.
