Sarah C. Hackney, Gray

Sarah C. Hackney, age 66 of Gray, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
She was a daughter of the late James Aaron and Rosa Ann Jones Cox. She is a native of Hawkins County and lived most of her life in Gray.
She was a graduate of Boones Creek High School and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents an infant sister, Amanda Jane Cox, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Jackson W. Hackney of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Sarah W. Hackney of Jonesborough; two sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia (Kenneth) “Sisie” Leamon of Blountville and Mary Ann Cox of Johnson City; one brother, William Creed (Kay) Cox of Gray; two grandchildren, William “Connor” Hackney and John “Caleb” Hackney; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 19, 2011 5 – 7 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. with William “Bill” Duncan officiating.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. in Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
