Betty Richardson, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Betty Jo “Big Betty” Richardson, 78, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Barbourville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late David Crockett and Lula Ann Henson Buttery. She had lived in Elizabethton for over 50 years. Betty was a homemaker and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: George William Buttery and Cecil Buttery and Seven sisters: Edna Mills, Catherine Baker, Janie B. Mullins, Sylvia McDonald, Viola Scalf and Laura Mae Burgess.
Survivors include three sons & Two Daughters-in-law: Dallas Richardson, Elizabethton, Douglas & Lucy Richardson, Elizabethton, and Rev. Terry & Melissa Richardson, Hampton; Four Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Donna & Jim Fritts, Elizabethton, Lela & Bill Fuller, Jackson, Georgia, Vicki & Mark Fuller, Canton, Georgia, and Kim & Mike Ensor, Elizabethton; 11 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; A sister: Inez Burgess, Covington, Ohio; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Greer officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Garland Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Sunset Free Will Baptist Church Choir. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, will be: Robert Fuller, Christopher Fuller, Timothy Fuller, Benjamin Fuller, David Richardson, Bill Fuller, Mark Fuller and Dave Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ensor, Jim Fritts, Gary Laws, Harold Morrell and Arnold Hughes.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the following: Johnson City Medical Center ICU, Amedisys Home Health, Dr. Vivian Clark, Molly at Johnson City Medical Center and friends at Volunteer Mart.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Kim Ensor, Elizabethton at any time. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
