Lorene Smith, Telford

Mrs. Lorene Phillips Smith, age 93, Telford, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late P.C. & Gusta Byrd Phillips. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her husband, Orley P. Smith; brothers & sisters, Helen Woods, Alvin “Pud” Phillips, Roy Phillips, Charles Phillips, Betty Treadway and Bernie Phillips; and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Moore Smith.
She was a member of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught the Women’s Adult Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Smith was Chairman of Farm Bureau Women and an active participant of the organization for many years.
Survivors include a son, Jerry L. Smith, Telford; three granddaughters, Donna Wilson (Scott), Telford, Helen Hennon (Ken), Knoxville and Christin Smith (Joe Harrell), Telford; great-grandchildren, Leila, Fisher, Caroline, Jayden, Ivan and Kevin; one brother, Herman Phillips, Jonesborough; sisters, Shirley Wren, Nashville, Christine Nordseth, Leesburg, VA, Jean Fippin, Maryland, and Nell Fox, Johnson City; and several nephews and nieces.
The Smith family would like to thank the staff and management of Four Oaks Health Care Center and special caregiver, JoAnn Harris, for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeremy Dykes and Pastor Cathy Fowler officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will follow at Mt. Wesley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sherrill Phillips, Brian Dillow, Perry Phillips, Mack Woods, Elmer “Buck” Miller, Larry Murphy, and Kyle Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Woods, Bill Dykes, Daryl Rowe, David Lewis, Dr. Rachel Monderer, JoAnn Harris, Kent Harris, Chris Renfro, Don Dillow, Johnny “Moe” Cloyd, Roy “Jr.” Coffie, Robin Wren, Kenny Woods and Dallas Hardin.
