Pauline Hodge, Johnson City

Pauline D. Hodge, 96, born November 19, 1914, to Katherine and Robert Denny died at 8:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2011, at her home in Boones Creek Community with her family by her side.
Pauline was the oldest living member of Marvin’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Boones Creek, at her death.
Mrs. Hodge was a native of Washington County, having lived her life here. She was a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother of seven children and sister to four brothers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Niles Hodge, in 2008; a daughter, Sharon Feathers; a son, Jeffery; a brother, Raphael Denny; and son-in-law Jim Gambrell.
Survivors include five children: Manuel Hodge and wife, Trula, of Gray, Bill Hodge and wife, Martha, of Gray, Jane Gambrell and Lynn Hodge, both of Johnson City, and Kathy Oliver, of Kingsport and fiancé, Chad Salyer; one son-in-law, Fred Feathers, of Kingsport, and wife, Lee; three brothers; Stanley Denny, Charles Denny, Clarence Denny and wife, Sammy, and sister-in-law Betty Denny, all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Sandra Loomis and husband, Sheldon, Johnson City, Junior Little and wife, Emilee, of Gray, Robbie Feathers and wife, Debi, of Kingsport; five great grandchildren, Ashley Edens and husband, Josh, of Telford, Justin, Jordan and Caroline Little, of Gray, Matilee Feathers, of Kingsport, two great-great grandchildren, Leah Edens and Luke Daniel Edens, of Telford.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hodge will be conducted at 8:00 PM Thursday, September 15, 2011, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Clowers, Pastor of Marvin’s Chapel United Methodist Church, conducting the service.
The family will receive friends at the family home in Boones Creek on Wednesday, September 14th, and at the funeral home Thursday, September 15th, from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM with the funeral services to follow visitation.
Active pallbearers are Jim Sell, Robbie Feathers, Justin Little, Jordan Little, Allen Moody, Larry Wilcox and Paul Hale. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Rakesh Patel with Christian Care Center of Johnson City, Dr. David Moulton, Billy Lee Carter and Doris Freeman.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at Gray Cemetery in Gray. Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. Friday to proceed to the cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Marvin’s Chapel United Methodist Church at 1882 Old Boones Creek Rd., Johnson City, TN 37615.
