Carroll Huffine Sr., Johnson City

Carroll L. Huffine Sr., 93, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Christian Care Center of Johnson City.
He was born in Washington County and was the son of the late Walter Sherman Huffine Sr. and the late Carrie Daisy Thornburg.
Mr. Huffine proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the Pacific theatre on Iwo Jima and the Aleutian islands as a First Class Petty Officer. He was a lifelong member of Eden United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent, and served on the Board of Trustees. Mr. Huffine was also a member of the Rhea Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the IBEW Union.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, traveling, listening to country music, and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Sherman Huffine Jr.; and a beloved grandson: Justin Huffine.
He is survived by his wife of sixty five years: Irene Huffine; daughter: Nancy Trivett and husband, David, Woodstock, GA; sons: Carroll L. Huffine Jr. and wife, Donna, Maryville, TN, Dennis Huffine and wife, Katie, Johnson City; brother: Ferris Huffine, Johnson City; Grandchildren: Laura Huffine, Carroll (Trey) Huffine III, and Leslie Trivett; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Huffine will be held at Eden United Methodist Church on Saturday, September, 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM with Reverend Will Lauderback and Reverend Mike Garland officiating.
A Graveside service will follow in Eden cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also at 10:00 am on Saturday at the church.
Active Pallbearers will be Clifford Huffine, Walter Huffine, Dalton Webb, Dean Rambo, Bud Rambo, David Bailey, McKinley Silvers and Carroll (Trey) Huffine III. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Eden United Methodist Church Fellowship Class, Employees of the Johnson City Power Board and Kenny Huffine.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Eden United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1620 Mill Springs Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659; or to the charity of your choice.
