Nell Conner, Johnson City

Mrs. Nell K. Conner, 87, 2501 Roxford Drive, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at her residence.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Head Shoun.
Mrs. Conner was a member of the Cornerstone Church. She had worked during her lifetime at the Peoples Drug Store, Pharmaseal Laboratories, Hammond Organ, Kings Department Store and Sears before retirement.
Mrs. Conner enjoyed gospel music and at one time sang in a group that performed in churches and on radio. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Conner, in 2001; four brothers, Blaine, Earl, R.C. and Guy Shoun; a sister, Ruth Stevens; and a grandson, Jason Robert Conner.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine White and her husband, Conley, of Johnson City; three sons, Robert Conner and James Conner, both of Johnson City, and Greg Conner and his wife, Ann, of Jonesborough; two sisters, Peggy Cannon, Johnson City, and Francis Berry of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service for Mrs. Conner will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2011, in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Terry Lyons officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 PM until service time.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 9, 2011, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone attending this service is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Friday to go in procession.
