Dr. John Pav, Johnson City

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr. John Ivan Pav on Monday, August 22, 2011, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. He died at the age of 88 after a prolonged illness.
Dr. Pav was an Art Historian and Professor Emeritus at ETSU College of Arts and Sciences Department of Art, where he taught for twenty five years prior to his retirement. He was a native of Prague, Czech Republic.
He obtained advanced academic degrees from Charles University of Prague in the Czech Republic, The University of Toronto, Canada, Harvard and Boston Universities. He subsequently was awarded an honorary M.D. from Charles University.
He leaves behind his family, colleagues, students, and friends.
We take this opportunity to thank his many physicians and health care providers for their exceptional care and understanding. We also will always appreciate the expertise and kindness of the medical teams at the Johnson City Medical Center, and particularly recently at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
According to Dr. Pav’s wishes he will be cremated and scattered in Prague, Czech Republic. The date for a memorial service has not yet been established.
It was also Dr. Pav’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Dr. Denise I. Pav Scholarship Endowment, P.O. Box 70721, Johnson City TN 37614.
