Dorothy Odom, Johnson City

Mrs. Dorothy Odom, age 83, Johnson City, formerly of Dulaney Rd. Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the Appalachian Christian Village.
Mrs. Odom was a native of Greene County and daughter of the late Earl & Ethel France Taylor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Odom was also preceded in death by her husband, Jason Carmel Odom, in 2008; and one brother, Ralph Taylor.
She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday school teacher at Y Freewill Baptist Church and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Odom was a Retail Manager, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include three children, Linda Anderson, Earl Odom and wife, Jane, all of Jonesborough and Elaine Shaw, Johnson City; brother, Jerry Taylor and wife, Barbara, Jonesborough; sister-in-law, Juanita Taylor, Jonesborough; grandchildren, Amy Knight and husband, Rev. Scott Knight, Hannah Hylton and husband, Chad, Lydia Shaw, Elliott Shaw, MSG Johnathan Wilson and wife, Gyongyi, and David Wilson and wife, Amber; ten great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank the staff of Appalachian Christian Village and Caregivers for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Scott Knight officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family & friends.
