Margaret Blankenship, Greeneville

GREENEVILLE — Mrs. Margaret L. Blankenship, age 95, formerly of 1203 Ben Gamble Road, Jonesborough passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at Life Care Center of Greeneville, where she had made her home for the past two years.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Daniel S. & Mary E. South.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roscoe C. Blankenship, February 8, 1989, two daughters, Mary Ellen Prensell, May 8, 1984 and Alice Sherfey, December 17, 1998, a sister and brother in law, Clara & Carl Cade, several brothers and sisters-in-law, parents-in-law, William Press and Ellen Tilson Blankenship, and a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Blankenship. She also lost two children in early pregnancy.
She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Blankenship, Mt. Juliet, Daniel Blankensip, Johnson City, James Blankenship and wife, Nancy, Chuckey; daughters, Mable Blankenship, Johnson City and Bernice Ledford and husband, Russell, Telford; (Bernice & Russell were her parents caregivers); grandchildren: David Blankenship and wife Marlo, Maryland, Connie Sullivan and husband Shawn, Colorado, Sandra Crews and husband Dale, Jonesboro, Shirley Housewright, Fall Branch, Robert Ledford, Telford, John & Paul Sherfey, Jonesboro and two other grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Shirley Bennett, Mt. Juliet, TN and Gene France, Jonesboro; 12 great-grandchildren, several niece, nephews and great nieces and nephew, brother & sister-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Blankenship, Doris Blankenship, Johnson City.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home and other times at the home of the granddaughter, 169 Atoll Way, Jonesborough.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Tyding and Dr. James Ray McKinney officiating. Interment services will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Blayne Housewright and family & friends. Honorary pallbearers and very special thanks to Dr. James R. McKinney, Dr. Richard Aasheim, and their staff, Dr. Khan, Dr. Phil Walters, Dr. William Hamilton, Mr. John B. McKinney, Life Care Center of Greeneville, the Brich Wing and all the staff, special friends: Mrs. Anna P. Broyles her hairdresser, Mrs. Horace Slivers, Mrs. Ann McCracken and a special niece Orbra Carr, and employees of Olde Towne Drug Store.
