Mrs. Carol Nidiffer, 65, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Carter County to Effie Oliver Holder of Elizabethton and the late Burl Holder. Mrs. Nidiffer was an active member of Riverview Baptist Church and she loved her family and her church family. She also loved NASCAR racing.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Gregg Nidiffer of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Jason Ward, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Patty Bowers, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Hayley Bowers, Brittany Greene, Candace Greene, Brandon Collins, Bryant Collins, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Tammy Wolfe, Boone, NC; two brothers, David O’Reilly, Guthrie, OK; Ted Welch, Elizabethton; her mother-law, Ruby Nidiffer; a brother-in-law, and his wife, Mike and Debbie Nidiffer, all of Elizabethton; and her special friends, Maude Oliver, Wanda Tester, Ginger Oaks, Jackie Taylor, The Whitehead and Wagonseller Families, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Nidiffer will be conducted on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 8:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Larry Shorter and Rev. Mark Grubb officiating. Music will be under the direction of Patty Hodge, Carmen Cook, Hayley Bowers and the Joyful Noise. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service and at the residence at other times.
The graveside service and interment and will be conducted on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Grady Holder presiding. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Holder, Dr. Martin Olsen, Jeff Rasnick, Dickie “Gator: Tester, James Honeycutt, Allen Scalf, Jimmy Charlton and Ronnie Wagonseller. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Chris Downs, Dr. S. Kalra, Dr Anna Gilbert, Dr. Kais Al Balbissa, Dr. Ram Sharma, Ben Whitehead and Rick Nidiffer. Those wishing to attend are asked to join the family at the funeral home at 9:15 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses of the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital ICU, 2600, 7400 and 2500 wings, for the love and care shown to Carol and to her family.
