William ‘Bill’ Sams, Johnson City

Mr. William “Bill” Hal Sams, 59, of 1201 E. Eight Ave., died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his home.
A native of Morristown, he was the son of the late Lewis H. and Dorothy Stanley Sams. William worked as a sales director in the furniture industry. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he took several mission trips to Romania. He was also a volunteer with Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He is survived by his son, Aaron M. Sams and his wife Bethany of Knoxville; daughter Elizabeth Sams of Johnson City; two brothers, Buddy Sams and wife Sherry and Bobby Sams and wife Rhonda, all of Morristown; one sister Danon Sams Slazas of Morristown; grandson Beck Sams of Knoxville; and his former wife Linda Sams of Johnson City.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 17, 2011, from 6-8:00pm, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the North Chapel.
A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 8:00pm, Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the North Chapel. Pastor Pete Tackett will officiate.
