Mr. Marion S. Cox, age 90, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Cox was a native of Washington County and son of the late Henry & Rose Good Cox.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Kinley Cox; a son, Ronnie Cox; and a brother, Jack Cox.
He was a member a Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Cox was a United States Army Veteran, having served during WWII in the European Theatre. He farmed when he got out of the military and began working for H.T. Hackney Company, where he retired. He loved to camp and go to the beach. He also enjoyed working in the garden and yard.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry & Nelta Cox, Sulphur Springs, and Norman Lee & Brenda Cox, Elizabethton; grandsons, David Cox, Michael Cox, Billy Cox, Randy Cox, Ronnie Cox Jr. and Robert Norris; granddaughters, Angela Cox Hawkins, Debbie Lynn Cox Ritchie, Kimberly Cox Ferguson and Katina Cox; 21 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Kay Burnette.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Reed and Rev. Al South officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will grandchildren.
