KINGSPORT — Margaret Rebecca Simerly, 88, better known as “Aunt Becky,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. She was a resident of Holston Manor (Kingsport, TN).
Ms. Simerly was born January 6, 1923, in Washington County, TN, the daughter of the late James Fredrick McCracken and Bess Ruth Morrell McCracken.
During her lifetime, Ms. Simerly was employed as a teacher in both Carter County, TN, and in Florida. She was also employed by the State of Tennessee as a Social Worker.
Ms. Simerly was a longtime member of First Church of God (Elizabethton, TN), where she served as a teacher and song leader for many, many years.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Simerly is preceded in death by a sister, Alma P. Maupin; a brother-in-law, George H. Maupin; and a nephew, Lee Maupin.
Survivors of Margaret Rebecca Simerly are her nephew, Bob Maupin and wife, Elizabeth (Kingsport, TN).
Aunt Becky will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
