Alta Tipton, Telford

Mrs. Alta Tipton, age 79, Telford, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011, at the John M. Reed Nursing Home.
Mrs. Tipton was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late George & Ida Arrowood Payne. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Tipton; two brothers, Charles Payne and Henry Payne; one sister, Nellie Brown; one granddaughter, Jennifer Yates; and a daughter-in-law, Patsy Tipton.
She was a member of Limestone Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tipton retired from Texas Instruments.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy & Ronnie Phillips, Limestone, and Janet & Ernest Seay, Midway; one son, Erwin Tipton, Culpeper, VA; grandchildren, Lynn Yates, Greeneville, Jessica Vandiver (David), Midway, Justin Yates, Oklahoma City, Gail Ricker, Greeneville, Julie McDannel (Rey), Warrenton, VA, Scott Tipton (Carmen), Culpeper, VA, Ronnie Phillips Jr., Greeneville, and Amanda Campbell (Randy), Chuckey; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Gentry and Mr. Erwin Tipton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at Limestone Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends and family will be meeting at the cemetery just before 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons & friends of family.
The family would like to thank the staff at John M. Reed Nursing Home & Caris Hospice for the wonderful care given to our mother.
