Robert C. Bollaan, Knoxville

Robert C. Bollaan, age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday evening, August 7, 2011 at Parkwest Medical Center following a brief illness. Bob was born in Java, Indonesia to Herman and Clementine Bollaan. He later lived in the Netherlands, served in the Royal Netherlands Army and received a BS degree from the College of Textile Engineering in Enschede Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1957, and became a U S Citizen in 1962.
He was a Textile Engineer with North American Rayon in Elizabethton TN and retired after 35 years of service. Bob resided in Johnson City for over thirty years and moved to Knoxville in 1997. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Bob was an avid gardener, had interest in history, music, astronomy, reading, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Rowe Bollaan; daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Richard Frazier, Jane and Jeff Kramer all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Samuel and Hunter Frazier, Morgan and Mackenna Kramer; sisters, Pia Vandercingel of Fayetteville, GA, Doreen Selles of Oakville, Canada, Ien Tazelaar of Spain; brother, Harry Bollaan of Holland; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jason Gattis officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holston United Methodist Home for Children, Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel, 11915 Kingston Pike is serving the Bollaan family.
