John Richards, Erwin

John Ed Richards, age 86, Erwin, went to be with the Lord and to join his wife, Margie, Saturday, July 30, 2011 after a very long illness at the Appalachian Christian Village.
Mr. Richards was born in Bluff City, TN and have lived in Erwin most of his life. He was a son of the late David Arthur and Rosa Simerly Richards. He was a veteran of World War II. He was employed with Clinchfield Railroad as a signalman for 33 years and retired in 1986 and was a certified electrician. He loved gardening and was a loving Dad and Papaw. Mr. Richards was a charter member of Central Baptist Church in Erwin, TN. In addition to his parents he is preceeded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margie, brothers; Carl Richards, Theodore Richards, Clarence Richards and his sisters; Lennie Love and Dorothy Tilson.
He leaves behind: Son: Wayne and wife Ann Richards, Johnson City, TN; Daughter: Kathy and husband Tim Arwood, Bristol, TN; Two Grandsons: Jeremy Richards and wife Jennifer, Colorado, Jason Richards, Erwin, TN; Three Granddaughters: Tracy Arwood, Bristol, TN, Stephanie Arwood Smith, husband Scotty, Bristol, TN, Cheyenne Buck, husband Tim, Johnson City, TN; Four Great-Grandchildren: Jacob and Morgan Richards, Jackson Richards, Brandon Buck; Two Sisters: Lena Mullins, Bristol, TN, Edith Waddell, Bluff City, TN; Two Great Grand Dogs: Buffy and Harley; Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Larry Wiley and Reverend Bill Nelson will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Rev. Larry Wiley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Haun, Tim Buck, Brandon Buck, Jeremy Richards, Jason Richards and Tim Arwood. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 6:00 PM until service.
Interment will be on Wednesday, Aug 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memory Garden.
