Evelyn Taylor, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Evelyn Estep Taylor, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late George H. Estep Sr. and Bessie Norris Estep. Evelyn was a former employee of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and for several years she was associated with her husband in the operation of J.N. Taylor Grocery Store. She was a member of the Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.N. Taylor; a daughter, Sue Nave; a son, Dwight Nave; a sister, Grace Estep; and two brothers, Porter & N.D. Estep.
Survivors include four brothers & sisters-in-law: George H. Estep Jr. & wife, Betty Jo, Paul & Maxine Estep and Lee Edwin & Gaye Estep, all of Elizabethton, and Huey & Lydia Estep, Arcadia, California; A Sister-in-law, Johnie Estep, Elizabethton; A Grandson, Patrick Nave; Several Nieces & Nephews; Two Step-Daughters, Lana Diane Garrison, Watauga, and Deloras “Cissy” Campbell, Elizabethton; Six Step-Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Hughes officiating.
Interment will follow in the Estep Family Cemetery. Music will be provided by David Estep, Organist; Debbie Gouge, Soloist; Chris Hughes, Soloist; and David Batchelder, Trumpeter. Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy & Victor Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all the excellent care that Evelyn has received.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
