Sam Neal, Johnson City

Sam Ross Neal, 63, went home to his heavenly home to be with his parents and wife on Monday, July 25, 2011 from the VA Medical Center, Nashville.
A life-long resident of Johnson City, he was the son of the late Jess J. and Hazel E. Baxley Neal. Mr. Neal was of the Baptist faith. He was an Air Force veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. Sam was a pharmacy technician and a housekeeper for James H. Quillen VA Medical Center before retiring.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Kolster Neal; two sisters, Sylvia Osborne and Rosie Harvey; and special friend, Linda Crabtree.
Mr. Neal was a caring, son, husband, brother, and a loving father to his three children.
Survivors included his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette & Michael Dickson, two sons, Sammy Neal Jr. and Timothy Neal and girlfriend, Jenny Ritter, his loving dog, Chloe, all of Johnson City; sisters, Joan Chaffin, Wanda Hodges, Honey Miller and Marylend Holder; brothers, Jesse Neal and Zeak Neal; special brother-in-law, Raymond Osborn; and friends at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Tim Hardin, Gary Faye and Frank. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service for Sam Ross Neal will be conducted on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 12:00 P.M. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City.
A military graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by V.F.W. Boone Dam Post #4933.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City.
The family would like to say Thank You to the Doctors and Nurses at Johnson City Medical Center and the VA Medical Center, Nashville, for all the care they gave to Mr. Neal and his family.
