Dr. Chester Campbell, Normal, Ill.

Dr. Chester Lawrence “Larry” Campbell age 62 of Normal IL passed away at 7:33 AM Monday, July 25, 2011 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.
He will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Monte Vista Cemetery, Johnson City, TN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the School of Music at Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Larry was born August 22, 1948 in Johnson City, TN the son of Chester Lawrence and Ethel Marie Mohlar Campbell.
Surviving, Mother, Ethel Marie Campbell; 2 Sisters, Beverly (Michael) Campbell Brock, Knoxville, TN, Janice (John) Shanks, Telford, TN; 2 Brothers, Travis (Wanda) Campbell, Clarksville, Maryland, Clifton Campbell, Johnson City, TN; 2 Nieces, Anna & Clarrisa Campbell; 1 Nephew, Andrew Michael (Amanda) Brock, Knoxville, TN; 2 Great Nephews, Micah & Aaron Campbell; 1 Great Niece, Amabel Brock; Special Friends, Robert Delvin, Bloomington, IL, Erin Mulliken, Bloomington, IL.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Larry graduated from Science Hill High School, Johnson City, TN where he was a Merit Scholar and Salutatorian of his class. He received his Bachelors & Masters Degree in Piano Performance at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. He received his Doctorate of Music with highest honors at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. He held the Fern Rosetta Scherff Professorship of Piano at Illinois Wesleyan University and was currently chair of the Piano Department. Larry has appeared as piano soloist in various U.S. cities and abroad. He will be fondly remembered by his many students, colleagues, friends and family.
