Mary Campbell, Unicoi

UNICOI — Mary Alice Smith Campbell, age 74, of 529 Lance Lane, Unicoi, passed away Sunday evening, July 17, 2011, at the home of her daughter.
She was born November 3, 1936, in the Limestone Cove community of Unicoi County. Mrs. Campbell was the daughter of the late Charlie Auther and Edline Davis Smith.
Mary retired in 1996 from Jones and Church Farms after 15 years of service. Before that, she was an employee of Levi Strauss for many years. Mary was a member of Simerly Creek Believer’s Fellowship Church.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Other than parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Campbell, Jr., in 1986; two sons, Gary Lynn Campbell and Allen Dean Campbell; one granddaughter, April Dawn Lance Whitson; three brothers, John “Clinton” Smith, Bill Smith and Charles “Junior” Smith; two sisters, Avanell Byrd and Ruby Gregg; niece, Opal Smith Sneed.
Mary is survived by three sons, Dale Campbell and fiancee, Lori Street, Larry Campbell, Richard Campbell and his wife, Debbie; one daughter, Linda Lance and her husband, Randy, all of Limestone Cove Community; Four grandchildren, Keith Campbell, Justin Campbell and his wife, Rachel, Brandon Campbell, Adam Campbell and his wife, Angel; four sisters, Earnestine Carver, of Hampton, Joyce Sneed, of Unicoi County, Yvonne Miller, of Hampton, Shirley Miller and her husband, Norman, of Unicoi County; one brother, Carrol Smith, of Unicoi County; Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to recognize the following people that were very special to Mary: Rickey Smith, Wynona Carver, Susie Stevens, Randall Whitson, and by her sisters-in-law who preceded her in death, Betty Bea Roberts and Genevieve Stevens.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 22, 2011, in the chapel of Unicoi Funeral Home with Reverend Morris Burkett, Reverend Dallas Gregg, and Reverend Jim Holtsclaw officiating. Special music will be provided by Barbara and Robert Guinn, and by Janet Morrow and her daughters, Jennifer and Laura.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Campbell, Rocky Cochran, Steven Cochran, Bobby Jack Davis, Doug Hyder and Doug Gouge. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Hill, Joseph “Richard” Smith, Norman Miller, Rickey Smith and Jimmy Davis
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday preceding the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter Linda, 528 Lance Lane, Unicoi.
The committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Smith Family Cemetery in Limestone Cove with Rev. Elmer Randy Gobble officiating. Those attending the committal service should meet at the funeral home by 1:00 P.M. Saturday.
