Robert Bowers, Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON — Robert Henry Bowers, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, in the Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Allen & Bernie Smith Bowers. He was retired from General Shale Corporation, Johnson City. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clearsie Grindstaff Bowers, December 27, 2005; and two sisters and three brothers.
His hobbies were fishing, hunting and gardening. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include Two Daughters & Sons-in-Law: Carolyn & Steve Greene and Phyllis & Ronnie Lambert, all of Elizabethton; Two Sons & One Daughter-in-Law: Robert Wayne Bowers and Jackie & Karen Bowers, all of Elizabethton; Seven Grandchildren: Misty Haun, Crystal Birchfield, Rhonda Hill, Robbie Bowers, Ryan Bowers, Jason Bowers and Heather Carr; Seven Great Grandchildren: Colton, Dominique, Logan, Sage, Jacob, Brittani and Devin; One Brother: Clint Bowers, Elizabethton; One Sister: Gaye Pierce, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Hawk officiating.
Graveside service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, in the Grindstaff-Carver Cemetery, Hampton. Music will be provided by Bobby & Sharon Smith. Active Pallbearers will be: Dean Rainbolt, Eugene Moore, Bobby Carr, Eric Haun and Johnny Birchfield. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion & Tennessee National Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
