Kenneth ‘Pete’ Jones, Johnson City

Kenneth Lee “Pete” Jones, of Gray, TN, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center of complications associated with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He was born in Salem, VA, on February 25, 1940 to Tom and Hazel Foster Jones. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Tom Jones and Raymond Jones; and sister, Imogene Wise.
Pete is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen “Kathe” Cofer Jones, of the home; and his daughter, Johanna Leigh “Jolie” Jones, of Raleigh, NC. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters and their husbands, Barbara Hodges (Charlie) and Ann Spraker (Dale); his sister-in-law, Joanne Beckett; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mr. Jones attended the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, where he received his certification in Radiology Technology and Miami-Dade Community College, Miami, FL, where he received his Associate in Science in Radiologic Technology.
He was retired from Palmetto Hospital (Miami, FL) where he was the Director of Imaging Services for 21 years. During that time he was also President of the Palmetto Credit Union.
Mr. Jones loved being outdoors traveling and sightseeing, including cruises to Hawaii and Alaska. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, camping in his RV and boating, particularly in the ocean off Miami.
A memorial service honoring him will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Brother Michael Hunter officiating.
