Richard ‘Dickie’ Wood, Gray

Richard “Dickie” Wood, 63, 137 Skyland Circle, Gray, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at the residence.
He was a native of Ramseur, NC, but had lived most of his adult life in Washington County. Mr. Wood was a son of the late, Kenny and Essie Poindexter Wood.
He was a retired employee of Kennametal Inc., Johnson City, and was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wood attended Johnson City Church of God.
Survivors include four sons, Richie Wood and his wife, Rose, Church Hill, Michael Steven Wood and his wife, Misty, Kingsport, Benjamin Travis Wood, Gray, and Bryant Wood and his wife, Rena, of Gray; a daughter, Jana Michelle Rollins, of Baileyton; two sisters, Peggy Watson and her husband, Allen, Kernersville, NC, and Linda Henley and her husband, Phillip, of Asheboro, NC; a brother, Danny Wood and his wife, Vickie, of Asheboro; nine grandchildren, Kenny, Casey, Adon, Megan, Scotty and Preston Wood, Miranda and Travis Rollins and Taylor Blankenbeckler; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Wood will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. Jody Jenkins officiating.
Internment will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military honors provided by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard assisted by the Army National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:30 AM until service time. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
