Gene Bowman, Johnson City

Gene Edward Bowman, 82, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011, at Appalachian Christian Village.
Born in Johnson City, he was the son of the late Charles Ed and Bessie Leach Bowman.
Gene was a member of First Christian Church in Erwin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Bowman was retired from CSX railroad, where he was Superintendant of Motor Power. Mr. Bowman was a member of Jericho Shrine Temple.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Jeffrey G. Bowman and Larry Edward Bowman.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his loving wife: Gladys Laws Bowman; his son: Patrick L. Bowman and wife, Melanie; granddaughter: Mindy P. Bowman; and several cousins.
The Bowman family would like to offer a special thanks to all the members of First Christian Church in Erwin for all their prayers and support.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Reverend David Roberts officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of the service.
A Mausoleum Entombment service will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be chosen from friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of First Christian Church of Erwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any church or charity of your choice.
